The math
A Mighty Patch "Original" pack contains 36 hydrocolloid dots, all 12 mm across, for $12.99 (1). A 12 mm circle is about 0.18 square inches, so the pack holds roughly 6.3 sq in of hydrocolloid — ~$2.06 per square inch (2).
The hydrocolloid roll is 2 in × 60 in (5 ft) = 120 sq in for $7.99, or ~$0.067 per square inch. That's about 31× cheaper per square inch. The same 5-ft roll carries about 19× as much hydrocolloid as a 36-patch pack, for less money, before you account for what you lose cutting circles out of a strip.
There is a second length.
